Gavin Muir ArabTRUST Blog Update
01 Sep

As part of our commitment to communicate more with our members our Associate Director, Stuart wrote his first blog recently and I agreed with him that we would alternate writing these so here is my first attempt at a blog. Stuart will be doing his next blog around the end of September.

There is no doubt last Saturday's performance and result were very poor and as a fan first and foremost who attends nearly ever game (I have missed one competitive first team match in 8 years) I probably felt more disappointed than I have in a long time when I left the ground after the game, as the team had missed a great opportunity to really establish themselves at the top of the league. There are many talented players in our squad but there is still work to be done to shape them into an effective winning team.

So what has been happening in terms of ArabTRUST over the last month or so?

Firstly the club have relaunched the Supporters Liaison Group (SLG) for this season and ArabTRUST will be playing an active part in this. it is a great opportunity for the various fans groups to get together and discuss issues that impact on us all. There is now also the opportunity for individual fans to get involved and details of this can be found on the club website but please note there is not much time left to apply if you are interested. The minutes from the first meeting are also available there as well.

On the Youth Development side of things it was great to see the winning Under 16/17 team from the club's academy who recently won at the Oakham tournament by beating Man Utd in the final get the chance to take a bow in front of the crowd at the Brechin game. This trip was funded by the Youth Development Board, for which I am the Treasurer, and gave the team a great opportunity to gain experience by play against different opposition. We have some events being planned to support the Youth Board and details of these should become available over the next couple of weeks. The club have had a great tradition in developing their own players and this is something I am really passionate about and I will be working hard with my colleagues on the Youth Development Board to help Brian Grant and his team wherever we can.

ArabTRUST have also recently confirmed our player sponsorships for this season and these are two academy graduates in Jamie Robson and Scott Allardice.

In terms of the community side of things our sister charity Dundee United Community Trust continues to go from strength to strength and thanks to everybody who contributed to the bucket collection at the Recent Brechin game. Keep an eye on the the DUCT Facebook page and Twitter feed for all their latest news and the community section of the club website gives a lot of information about DUCT and its activities.

Last year we ran various member's draws to win hospitality at home some home games and we will be doing so again this season. The draw for the first set of winners will take place shortly and winners contacted shortly thereafter. Make sure you keep your membership up to date to be in with a chance of winning.

The next ArabTRUST board meeting is due to take place next week and so if you have any questions for us please email yoursay@arabtrust.co.uk
Finally Saturday's game may not be the most important game of the season but it gives the team a chance to get back to winning ways and maybe some of the younger players another chance to impress. I must admit however seeing Harvey Dailly make his debut in the last round, when it doesn't seem that long ago that I can remember his father making his debut and with Logan Chalmers being the first player born in the 21st century to make a first team appearance for the club it makes me feel old!
