Society Board: Derek Robertson

Derek was appointed to the Board of Dundee United in September 2002 until he stood down in January 2011. His principal remit was to improve communications and dialogue with supporters.

A long term advocate of supporters’ rights and the value of supporters’ trusts, Derek had been involved with various United supporters’ groups prior to his appointment and also at national level in both Scotland and the UK.

He took a leading part in securing the support of the Scottish Parliament for funding the establishment of Supporters Direct in Scotland and was appointed to the main Board of Supporters Direct in London.

Derek was elected as ArabTRUST Chairman in September 2011 before standing down from the position a year later having accepted an invitation to re-join the Board of Dundee United.

Derek remains very much an ArabTRUST Board member.

Following his appointment as Director of Dundee United in 2002, Derek helped facilitate the formation of ArabTRUST and continued to promote it wherever appropriate, within the Tannadice main board and in club communication vehicles.

Married, with two daughters and one granddaughter, Derek lives in Dunfermline.
