Today, United Chairman Stephen Thompson 'reluctantly accepted the resignation' of Derek Robertson.
Derek told arabtrust.co.uk, "It's nothing to do with some of the things that were reported by the media. I've been in charge of Dundee United Football Club's communications for the past 7 years.
"What started out as just a few hours a week has 'snowballed' and there is no other reason for standing down other than that I have simply 'done my stint'."
Derek was widely regarded as Eddie Thompson's closest and most trusted advisor. In an official club statement, Stephen Thompson said, "I have reluctantly accepted the resignation and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Derek for his valuable contribution to the Board, and indeed to Dundee United as a whole over the past years, and I'm pleased that he has agreed to assist us in various capacities in the future."
Derek was also a founder member of ArabTRUST and has been a Board member ever since it's 2003 formation.
"One thing I would like known is that if there is one thing that I take huge pride in during the past 7 years, it was being with ArabTRUST from the start and being involved in such a valuable organisation.
"ArabTRUST is so often overlooked but its contribution to the club has been huge."
In the short term, Derek will still be very much involved with Dundee United and at present has not indicated any intention of resigning from the ArabTRUST Board. He intends to advise the ArabTRUST Board of his future involvement at next weeks Board meeting.
