As a result of a joint partnership between ArabTRUST, Dee4Life and new charity United for All, today representatives from The Black Watch were presented with 140 free derby tickets for tomorrow night.
The troops will parade around Tannadice at 7.30pm, some 15 minutes before kick, off to allow supporters to show their appreciation in a community tribute to their bravery and dedication. Due to the close proximity to Remembrance Sunday, a minute's silence will be held before kick off.
The idea behind this tribute stemmed from the "Black Watch Arabs" sending a photo to Dundee United from Afghanistan. This led to them becoming an affiliated supporters' club and an invitation to attend a game as guests of the Club on their return. ArabTRUST, Dee4Life and the United for All charity worked alongside United to make the arrangements - the Chairman of UfA and ArabTRUST Board member, Dave Mulholland, is also a serving officer with Tayforth UOTC and was able to liaise directly with the troops in Afghanistan.
Receiving the tickets from Chairman Stephen Thompson today were brothers-in-law LCpl Ryan Richardson and LCpl Barry Thomson. They are pictured alongside Dave and 1st Team Manager / Director of Football, Craig Levein.
